Mayfield's latest series involves semi-precious and precious gemstones embedded in her artwork. Winning an International award in New York in the late 80's with her large faceted Amethyst embedded in her Reverse Glass Painting, she has continued to use gemstones, metallics, and holographic pigments in oils and mixed media. She says, "Gemstones and holographic pigments in my paintings act like energy portals -- enhancing my intent of opening the viewer to a different perspective. Light and color-change take you to the land of imagination, feeling, and enjoyment."

Holographic pigments for fine art include color-change, rainbow iridescence with pearlized and metallic elements. Crushed rock such as volcanic rock and mica are used on occasion. This adds a Dimension of Light, and the energy of fine quality faceted gemstones, which are individualized with each painting.
All paintings are Gallery wrap, and without frame. They have a continuation of the image on the sides unless noted.
All paintings are measured in inches. All paintings come with a certificate showing type of painting and gemstones used.
